Monkgate Guest House was originally three Georgian cottages built around 1804 for a wood carver and cabinetmaker. It is a Grade II listed building. We are situated just outside the ancient city walls of York on Monkgate and only a five minute walk through the Monk Bar to York Minster and the main city area. |
York is renowned for its beautiful medieval and Georgian buildings and there is so much to see and do! Apart from the many attractions including the Shambles, The Jorvik Centre and the Railway Museum, to name just a few, you have all the wonderful shops and restaurants at your disposal all within easy walking distance of Monkgate Guest House. Most weeks York is host to an event i.e. The Food and Drink Festival in September or The Viking Festival in February. At Christmas the whole city comes alive with the colourful lights and bustling street fairs. |
The Guest House is run by the owners and has been tastefully renovated to retain much of the original character. Cosy and rambling with a homey atmosphere. |
